Ghavane is popular in konkan area. It is basically a rice pancake somewhat like neer dosa. But it tastes totally different from neer dosa. It is a quick breakfast recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • Oil

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, take rice flour. Add salt and mix well.
  • Add water. Stir well. No lumps should be formed.
  • Add little water at a time and mix well. It should be thin and not too thick. 
  • Heat a pan on medium heat.
  • When the pan is enough hot add oil. Spread the oil over the pan.
  • Mix the rice batter well. While preparing ghavan, put the batter on the sides of the pan first and the come to the center.
  • Cover and cook for a minute. Remove the lid and cook for another 4 – 5 minutes.
  • Flip over and cook for 2 – 3 minutes.
  • Take it off the pan and serve hot.
  • Ghavane go well with mushroom sabzi or chicken.
  • It can be served with peanut or green chutney too.
