Ingredients

  • 2 medium Potatoes
  • 1 cup finely chopped Onion
  • 1 cup Green peas
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Garam masala
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Oi

Instructions

  • Boil the potatoes, peel, and chop these into big chunks.
  • Heat up oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let these splutter.
  • Add finely chopped onion and fry for about 2 minutes.
  • Add green peas and mix well.
  • Fry the peas and onion for about 5-7 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, coriander powder, red chili powder and fry for about 2 minutes.
  • If you don’t add boiled potatoes and add peanut powder or fresh shredded coconut and a little lemon juice then matar masala is ready.
  • Add potatoes, salt and mix well.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir well at the intervals.
  • Add coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Turn off the gas and aloo matar is already.

Notes

  • If you are using fresh peas or any other vegetable that takes a little more time to cook then add it along with the onion. So that it gets to cook in the moisture of the onion and time is also saved.
