Ingredients

  • 1 cup of rice
  • 1/4 cup toor dal
  • 2 red chilies
  • Whole Garam Masala
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 3 tsp
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 2 tsp chopped garlic

Instructions

  • Mix rice and toor dal together, rinse it in water for 2, 3 times, and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and whole garam masala, red chilies. Then add chopped garlic and saute garlic till it gets a light golden color.
  • Add chopped onions and saute till onions get light brown color.
  • Add rice and dal, mix it well and add 2 cups of water.
  • Finally, add salt and cook this until 3 whistles.
  • Toor dal khichadi is ready. serve this with pickle, chutney, papad.
