Ingredients

  • 2 cups Murmura / Puffed rice
  • 1 cup finely chopped Onion
  • 1/4 cup Roasted chana dal
  • 1/4 cup Roasted peanut powder
  • 1/4 tsp Hing / Asafetida
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2~3 Finely chopped Green chilies
  • Curry leaves
  • Finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  • Take roasted chana dal into a mortar and pound it into a coarse powder. Do not make a fine powder.
  • You can use a blender for this.
  • In a bowl take murmura and add water.
  • Soak murmura in water for about a minute and drain water from it.
  • Transfer the soaked and drained murmura into a dish.
  • Heat up oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them sputter.
  • Add hing, onion, curry leaves, and green chili.
  • Mix well and fry until onion cooks soft and gets light golden color.
  • You can add red chili powder instead of green chili.
  • Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Add puffed rice and stir well.
  • Add pounded roasted chana dal, roasted peanut powder, salt and stir well.
  • Cover and steam it nicely.
  • Remove the lid and mix it again.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and Sushila id already.
  • You can add lemon juice now or serve with a lemon slice.
