Preparing ukadiche modak is quiet a tedious job. It requires a lot of hand work. But mava modak are pretty easy to prepare. Just fill the mold with the stuffing and modak are ready. Simply delicious and tasty too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated Khoya / Mawa
  • Food color (Optional)
  • 3/4 cup powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Heat a pan on medium to high heat.
  • Add khoya. Mix well and fry for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Roast till the khoya becomes a bit dry.
  • After about 8 - 9 minutes add food color (optional). Mix well and continue to roast.
  • During roasting there will be a stage when khoya will attain a grainy texture.
  • Stop roasting at this point. Let it cool down.
  • When the khoya is a bit warm add powdered sugar, cardamom powder. Mix well.
  • Mix like chapati dough.
  • Fill the modak mold with mixture of khoya.
  • Close and remove excess mixture.
  • Open and remove the modak from the mold.
  • Mawa modak are ready.
