  • 3 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp Oil

Method

  • Prepare microwave safe dish by greasing it using some oil and line up at bottom using some wax paper or aluminum foil.
  • Mix milk and sugar until sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Sieve maida, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda in milk mixture. Combine everything to make sure there are no lumps of any dry ingredient.
  • Add vanilla extract and oil and again mix well.
  • Finally add 1 tbsp lemon juice and mix everything well.
  • Pour batter in microwave safe dish and microwave over high power for 5 mts.
  • Insert toothpick if it comes out clear cake is ready.

  • Then gently transfer cake on a cooling rack.
  • Enjoy with a scoop of cool whip, vanilla ice cream topped up with some chocolate syrup!

Dear madhurai ji I tried ur chocolate cake whip up in 5 min and really it turned out to be so fluffy spongy and when I inserted toothpick in centre as well on sides it came out to be clean. 2 only problem I had was after mixing the sieved mixture it was lumpy and when I rotated the whisker to whisk the small bit of lumps were there. So I kept on whisking till smooth but it turned smooth and very thick like paste. When I added vanilla essence and oil then it became like smooth batter consistency. All I want to know can we add rum if yes then how much? Thanks Rims1

at the time of baking cake is it necessary to preheat microwave?? and if necessary then how much power for how much time........ for baking cake convection mode is essential?
No Image Nimmi :     25 March 2014
Hi Shradda, I have made this cake many times and each time it has come out really well. Pls read your Microwave users' manual well before you start doing anything. In the Microwave, there is "Microwave" mode. Press this only once to get the highest temperature. There is no need to preheat if you are using this mode and you can use microwave safe bowls in any mode other than convection mode. If you are using convection, preheating is required and also you will have to use metal tins for baking the cake. Keep the cake batter in the Microwave. Select "Microwave" mode. select the time. Press the "start" button. that's it . Happy cooking grin

I think your mixture would be very thick (batter ) . Batter should not be very thick semi fluid grin

Hi Madhura, although I wasn't sure at first, still I decided to give this cake a try coz its quick. My cake turned out very well. It took me 6 n half min in a 800W microeave. For those, it didnt work... You gotta keep in mind that choose a container big enough so that it only fills upto half with the prepared batter. After 5 min, keep checking and cook at 30 sec interval till its done. I used a plastic microwave tupperware and it worked perfectly. In microwave, even 10 secs more can make the cake hard and dry. Good Luck !! And Madhura, thanks a ton for this simple and quick recipe... God bless you and your little angel grin

Hello Madhura !! Nice Recipe. I have a question . What kind of microwave have you used here. Is it a convection microwave or a normal grill microwave ? I need to get a new microwave and i am confused whether to go for convection one or not ? Also , If you can tell the company and model of the microwave you used to bake this cake.

The reason for the sand granule feeling bust be too much of baking powder and baking soda, try the recipe with a pinch of baking soda and nothing more than 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder(please measure that). @Madhura please correct me if I am wrong...

Hi Madhura...thank you for this recipe...i tried it and the cake turned out to be really good..everybody in my family loved it smile the only concern was the sand kind of particles which we could feel while eating...please suggest some measures to fix this problem if you have ... thank you smile
No Image sylvie :     3 March 2014
What a wonderful, simple presentation,Madhura you explained the recipe so well, It was very easy to follow.May I suggest those people noticing sand-like granules...maybe they didn't completely dissolve the sugar in the milk.I used freshly squeezed orange juice, cos no lemon, orange goes great with chocolate and a pinch of salt really brings out the flavour.Your right Madhura, its a wonderful texture and lasts ages in a tin.Thank you so much

Hi Madhura, Many times I tried making cakes but never turned so fluffy and nice like your recepie, it really turned out very good, my only concerned was while eating i could feel some kind of granules(slightly like sand) in it, I check all the ingredients individually for any mixture but all was clear, may be it was not the correct coco I used kindly advise which product to use hence forth. Thank you so much for the lovely recepie
No Image Madhura :     19 July 2013
That's simply great Sandra. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I guess, it could have happened because of small particles in either flour or cocoa. I would suggest to strain flour and cocoa very well before you start adding any other ingredients. That will help to remove particles or any lumps in the flour. Thanks and take care.

So i just made this and it was way better than i expected! Usually when i try a microwave cake they end up really chewy and rubbery (I think its the eggs) but this recipe was very moist and it didn't taste like "microwave cake" it tasted like a nice chocolate cake. When it was still warmish i put mini marshmallows on it and gram-cracker bits to make it a smores cake. It was awesome! smile Very moist and reminded me of the chocolate cake I get from bakeries. smile I think next time i'll add more coca powder though, personally I like my cake super chocolaty~ :D Thanks for this recipe! LOL

Hello dear, I am so sorry to hear that mad. My guess is its not cooked completely. You can try to cook it little longer. Also try to use wider pot.
